Hazard Maps for Switzerland

Dear visitor,

The Swiss Seismological Service completed in November 2004 the probabilistic seismic hazard assessment for Switzerland. This is the conclusion of several years of research, and documented in the SED report Seismic Hazard Assessment of Switzerland, 2004.

Our new web-server, which will allow access to hazard results, is still under construction. We apologize for this delay; the new web sites will be available under this link by Nov. 20 2004.

In 2003, the SED released a first version of the new hazard assessment, which was used as input for the new Swiss SIA building codes SIA 261. These results are documented on the web page:

The 2004 hazard report fully documents the 2003 results, and adds the analysis of the uncertainty in the assessment, using Monte Carlo simulations and a logic tree of alternative scenarios. This new, updated version of the hazard report and maps you find at the following web page:
